10 Fun Summer 2011 Trends
Posted by in Summer 2011 Trends on July 26, 2011
This season brought something fresh and exciting into the mix: color! The “in” colors are bright enough to get you out of the funk and into the sunshine. Patterns are also exploding into the clothing racks, with tribal patterns being the king of the jungle. From red lipstick to lace, to the 70′s vibe, this season takes on a playful and vibrant persona.
Red Lips
Savory, hot red lips are favored this season. From runways to streets, women are rocking this bold color with sheer confidence. When I was young, I thought that being old enough to wear red lipstick marked the new stage of womanhood. There is something very powerful in wearing red, just make sure you pick out the red that’s appealing to your skin. When wearing red lips, make sure the rest of your make-up stays mellow. Stay away from heavy eyeliner and blush. The point is to invoke the femme fetal, not a streetwalker.
Lace
Sheer fabrics with lace are both endearing and sensual. Lace is back with new and fun ideas for mixing up the fashion scene. Try layering a striped tank under a cream or black lace tank. When I think of lace, I think lingerie, femininity, softness, and sensuality. Make sure to wear proper undergarments, the look is classy not trashy.
Patters and Prints
It seems that tribal prints are coming out of the jungle and ruling storefront windows. Parallel stripes are just behind them with a fusion of bright color combinations. Animal prints are blended with new colors like peaches, oranges, blues and greens. Don’t be afraid to try these new patterns, play around with this savory color palette.
Draping and Loose
The Kim Kardashian clinging dresses have been upstaged by more boxy, loose and draping styles. Light materials and soft colors bring elegance and class to any woman. This forgiving new trend is a reason to celebrate for those of us who lack the body of a supermodel.
Odd Color Pairs
A psychedelic vibe in terms of colors, not pattern has been welcomed this summer. Color combinations like florescent oranges and pinks, bright greens, blues and yellows have been brightening up the fashion world. I do believe that during this time of a recession, these vibrant hues are, as Bob Marley would say it, are “lively-ing” up our souls.
Florals
From small flowers to giant petals, florals are in full boom this summer. Christian Dior, Chanel and Dolce and Gabana are just a few designers who introduced florals in their Spring/Summer 2011 collections. It’s sometimes easy to jump on the trend bandwagon; the trick is to make the trend work for your individual style. From maxi skirts to a-line dresses, to jumpers, you are bound to find something that will be your fit.
Jumpers
They surfaces last season and now they are bolder and brighter then before. I personally love the full length, wide legged jumpsuits. They are elegant and have an even, horizontal line that elongates the body. The wide leg jumpsuit brings a balance to your form as well. From denim, to florals, to tribal prints, the selection of jumpers this summer is endless. Read the rest of this entry »
Obscure Up and Coming Fashion Trends for Men
Posted by in Men Fashion trend on July 16, 2011
Fashion tastes have covered every idea imaginable, or so it would seem, from the dowdy dress of the early 20th century – with such examples as the bowler hat – to the craziness of the early 21st century – the meat dress worn by Lady Gaga being a case in point. There have been so many fashion trends during the course of history, that we have surely run out of ideas? Not so, with a new year, brings a new wave of trendy clothing. Here, we will look at upcoming trends in men’s clothing.
As always, when looking for the up and coming fashion trends, the first place to turn our attention is the catwalk. Within the world of men’s fashion, we normally see no more than a slight variation of the traditional t-shirt and jeans, and this year is no exception. The t-shirt has been subject to a massive overhaul, however, and men should run for cover now, apparently, we will be seeing a fashion movement that holds men’s crop tops as this season’s fashion must have item! Expect to see plenty of male midriffs this year, particularly during the summer and spring. There are still a few months left of winter to ensure that you have a buff body, right in time for the crop top take-over.
For office workers, we are likely to see a return in fashion to the briefcase. Our advice, however, is not to combine the look with a crop top – somehow, we cannot see that taking off, but stranger things have happened! For men who want to stay ahead of the trend, investing in a high quality briefcase will set you in good stead.
Men’s clothing is taking a turn away from the demure colours of black, brown, blue, and white. This year, it is all about colour. Furthermore, expect to combine bright colours in single outfits, with bright tops and bright trousers. Nevertheless, remember, always make sure you select colours that match, if in doubt, remember the ditty ‘red and green should never be seen, except for on a Christmas tree’.
For those men amongst you, who do not like to wear bright colours, do not fear, another trend sees a return to the Gothic looks of the late 1990s. This means wearing lots of dark denim, and investing in a great pair of leather shoes.
Fortunately, other trends are not so drastic, and you should not rush home and empty your wardrobe ready to replace them with a completely new ensemble. Men’s clothing is great, because fashion always allows men to fall back on the classic look: dark jeans, lighter shirts, black or brown shoes. Moreover, the classic look always looks great and men are fortunate in that respect. Read the rest of this entry »
