Nimble Production's history is a long and twisting tale. It began when two graduates of the Seattle Film Institute decided to start a production company shortly after they finished their studies. This incarnation was short lived, but did provide one of it's founders, krk nordenstrom, with a great opportunity to get to know the Seattle filmmaking landscape and meet a great many like-minded, local filmmakers.

The second incarnation of the company was comprised of krk nordenstrom as well as several other Seattle Film Institute and Seattle Central Community College graduates. This group fared much better financially and creatively, but as the individuals grew in skill, their creative and career goals grew apart and thus did the group. The company went on hiatus as a result.

Two members of Nimble splintered off to start a venture called StoryPIPE which created a website dedicated to shining a spotlight on video content created by sketch comedy groups, independent bands, indie filmmakers and video bloggers. Through StoryPIPE, krk learned the in's and out's of the video blogging technology including producing low budget, high quality content as well as how to set up, manage, publicize and syndicate web video. Once again, home life pressures and creative goals put an end to this venture, but a great many business and technological lessons were learned.

Through all of these up's and downs, krk, Nimble's founder, was teaching video editing and production at the Seattle Film Institute and documentary post production at the Univesity of Washington Extension Program. To make ends meet he freelanced as a grip, gaffer, producer and editor for anyone that would have him. During this time he edited two feature films for a local filmmaking company, Director's Ltd., produced, directed and edited scores of performance and promotional videos for Sarathan Records, took a job as the "Final Cut Pro guy" at Modern Digital and continued producing video content for Seattle musicians like Kultur Shock and Trey Gunn.

Krk's time at Modern Digital was a dream come true for him as he had wanted to work there since taking a field trip to the post production facility while in school. While there, he learned a great deal about the post production process and the business thereof. Alas, this position was not to last permanently, though his relationship with them remains healthy.

After finishing up his fourth year running the 48 Hour Film Project in Seattle and teaching the Summer Teen Program at the Seattle Film Institute, krk contemplated a move back to his roots in the San Francisco Bay Area. However, a fateful discussion with David Shulman, director of the Seattle Film Institute, would soon follow. Since graduating from the Seattle Film Institute, there has been one professional constant in krk's life and that was David Shulman and the school. The two realized that the time had come to join forces to create a production company that utilized the business smarts and industry experience of Shulman and the determination and talent of nordenstrom.

In discussing what the company should called, krk trotted out Nimble Productions. Like the phoenix, Nimble was reborn. Why Nimble? Simple. Nimble means light on your feet, fast, efficient. That is the motto by which krk has lived professionally. Keep things simple.

So today, Nimble is complete with an experienced cast of characters both professionally and business wise and ready to cater to the needs of your project.
